I'm running SLI 9600GT's on my main machine, but the 8750's are a little bit cheaper and actually the better of the 2 cards. As far as your Processor goes, the AMD Quads do run hot, they are made to run that way. If the heat bothers you though, the Phenom Tri-Core is a great solution. I never recommend Intel to anyone, and no matter what you hear, AMD's still out clock Intel chip for chip. About the only place Intel gets over on AMD is in the video duplication department, they do tend to encode movies quicker. Basically, it just becomes a personal preference thing. Going back to video cards, remember that ATI chip sets are very finicky about what components they play nice with. If your going to go that way do your homework. That's what's nice about NVidia, they work, no matter what you put them with. Mother boards...hands down the best in the business is DFI. They tend to be a little more expensive, but in the long run they are worth every penny paid. That being said, I am bench testing a Jetway board just for shits and giggle and I gotta say that I'm impressed. Also worth considering, Mach Speed has the best warranty out there, and the biggest dog on the market is anything put out by ECS. Where memory is concerned, OCZ is considered the best for over clocking so it would stand to reason best in performance too. Not true at all. For my money, cost versus performance, G.Skill is where it is at. It OC's well, performs flawlessly, and I have never had reason to complain at all. I have been using G.Skill as long as I can remember. One final note on memory. Having worked in the manufacturing end of it. It is going to become worth it to go the route of DDR2. With Hynix shutting down all of its 8 inch fabs, anything slower than DDR2 is going to start becoming more and more expensive as it start to get scarce. You have to understand, the 12 inch fabs are all geared up for the newer technologies. That means DDR 2, DDR 3, And several versions of GDDR. Last but not least, and the one place where it is more a personal preference, Hard Drives. About the only difference here is the amount of noise you will hear. Maxtor has always been known for the very distinctive sound they make. I personally lean towards Seagate drives, I've had 1 drive go bad over all these years and it was a Seagate. They took it back, recovered the data for me and got back to me with a drive that was slightly better/newer and they did it all on warranty even though the warranty had expired by a couple of months. That's why I've always tended to stay with them. In truth however, as far as reliability and performance goes they are pretty much all equal. Price wise they are all pretty much even as well. CD/DVD drives and recorders are exactly the same way too. the difference with them is that the top end drives are better than the low end drives but all the brand name top end drives are about equal and all the low end drives tend to be about the same too if you follow me. I will say this though, I have been having issue's with Sony DVD-RW's lately, but i think that it is more a bad batch of drives than the brand being bad. It's like one of their manufacturing plants had a bad week or something. Now to top it off, they are treating me like a little bitch that doesn't know what I'm talking about so even though I'm just one little operator, I think Sony is going to lose some business unless I happen to get through to the right guy, you know how that goes.

Hope that helps, or gives you some food for thought any way.

Well, The SLI Settles your Video card choice for the best. Remmeber that SLI is NVidia Technology and Crossfire is ATI Technology. Basically the same thing just different approaches. The SLI board locks in the NVidia cards. Other considerations: are you wanting DX10 compatible? If so then your going to have to go to Vista. IMHO not the best thing to have to do. Another consideration, there are just as many arguments is favor of SLI/Crossfire as there are against. that all depends a lot on if you can get "true" 16x16 performance or are you going to end up wit 16x8 or god forbid 8x8. If that ends up to be the case, you really would be better off putting your money into a very good high end card like the new GTX series or the 9000 class like the 9600's I have. If your serious about doing SLI, take the time to read up on it. Not just what guys are saying in the forums, the technosnobs and the notknownothings that abound in the forums, but really research what the technology is, what it does and how it works. As far as your Proc goes, that's going to be determined by your board. Get the best you can now or wait a couple of months. We are right on the cusp of the next rollover in tech. By that I mean it's been about 18 months since the current stuff has been out so we are due. It goes that we have a new tech generation about every 18 to 20 months and we are right on the edge of it. I think that this one is going to be a basic revision of what we have already, I really don't think we aree going to get in break through this time, or the next time for that matter. I read the tech trades real regular like and there have not been even the slightest hint of anything new or with any kind "WOW" factor at all. What I am predicting and telling my customers is that we'll see a slight jump in speed and stability and something of a slightly modest price adjustment. So if your not in a big hurry, watch prices at places like New Egg or Geeks and take note of where they are now and in a month or so. You should start seeing some good deals on the prices of the current high end stuff right before the pop as companies want to dump their stock before the new stuff comes out.

Good luck!
